Pownce vs. Twitter: Two Different Monsters!
March 31st, 2008

I’ve been hearing, and I’m sure most of our readers have too, around internet that “Pownce is better than Twitter” and vise-versa. Well I believe the two can co-exist. Proof is the fact that all the Pownce founders have Twitter accounts (that are updated regularly). I can’t speak for the Twitter founders doing the same with having regularly updated Pownce accounts, but if they do they’re only emboldening my point.
Twitter is for quick, sporadic updates. Basically it’s a database of your day to day life.
Pownce is for quick, thought out updates. Which translates to it being a database of your day to day thoughts, files, and viral media.
Twitter can sort of do this files sharing thing, but nowhere near as smoothly and efficiently as Pownce. Twitter is great for tell folks (or followers, hah) about the really big douche bag standing in front of you in the Target check out line. Where as Pownce is a great place to talk about your first thoughts after buying that new dresser at Target.
Pownce and Twitter: Two great services, similar at times, but very different at others.

Totally agree, but I’m definitely a bigger user of Pownce just because I like the experience; I’m a Burka fan. This short article is just the tip of the iceberg. I saw Techcrunch try an article on this, but it was particularly dry.
