Nerd Community..

It’s exactly what Pownce provides. Just about every person, I’m guessing, on Pownce is a nerd somehow. It’s one reason why I love the community so much. I can ask a question, and get a really decent answer because I know that all the people on Pownce are knowledgeable in some way.
I really don’t want my friends from, say, MySpace to come over to Pownce. I like being able to jump on Pownce and see new, original stuff. I think having too many “mainstream” users would poison the site’s niche community.

I think you have something there. But we’re renaissance nerds. Everyone brings there own unique combination of skills and interest to the table. If I have a question people answer. If someone asks a question, I may be able to answer and if I can’t someone else can. It’s a great balance, we can learn from each other, share what we know and have fun in the process.
I think also though, we have a nice bunch here on Pownce. People are for the most part polite and respectful even though we’re sometimes goofy or outrageous. I have Pownce friends who have very different beliefs (religion/politics) from my own but we can still get along cordially. There is much to be said for that.
